I think Boston will be a bit worn out after only 2 days of rest and the relatively young Magic team will roll over Boston in the first 2 games but maybe then they will fight theirselfs back into the series but still lose to them in a 6 or 7 games series. To the west ... I hope nash and stoudemire will beat the l*kers cause i hate Kobe so much but i think the height advantage will get the l*kers to the finals in 5 or 6 games -.- (let's hope that kobe plays like lebron and nash makes it happen^^)

I think the Celtics are underestimated... They have a very strong roster full of playoff experience and also energy from Rondo, and having Garnett back is a huge different. Teams like Boston don't perform particulary great during the regular season, but they're poised during the playoffs. I seriously doubt if Orlando will be able to beet them.
I think the most important matchup will be Perkins on Howard. Perkins is a very good defender and doesn't need helpside often, and if he can handle Howard decently, the Magic will also have more difficulty with their 3 point game. I can't tell which of the 2 will advance, though I think I'll place my money on the Celtics because they're so tough and playing so well.
Suns/Lakers... I really like the Suns and I always support the underdog, but I think the Lakers are just too good for them. I would love to see a Phoenix - Boston Finals as well though, the best offensive team against the best defensive team should be way fun.

Very astute prediction there Mighty. They dominated the first 3 games. Game 4 was good, but they made a few mistakes that cost them in the end. And then last night they got hosed with some terrible calls. The 3 technicals on Boston were completely bogus. The game wasn't close in the end, but I think they were just mentally shot and there bigs were too depleted to compete in the 4th. Hopefully they don't pull a Bruin. I would just feel too bad for those veterans.

The NBA hates sweeps, less money, Im still a believer that David Stern and the refs gave the Heat their title when it should have been the Mavs(and Im no Mavs fan). The Refs should have to answer questions from the media as players and coaches do but "Hitler" will never allow it, ok Hitler is a little strong but I have hated Stern for 20 years, he cares more about money than the product IMO and fouls are often skewed in the direction of the team that will make the league the most money. Of course it doesnt always work because the refs are careful not to make it look to obvious ie the Spurs title runs but alot of times you have to win by 7 or 8 points to make up for the one sided calls. Basketball is the best sport in the world in theory, at least in my opinion, but because of the subjective and bias nature of the officiating I put it 3rd behind baseball and football. In any other sport would an official convicted of gambling and accusing the NBA of tampering with the outcome of games be so readily dismissed? Rouge official my ass. Stern is a powerful man and people seem to be afraid of him, maybe the new Nets owner has been inleague with him for years (russian mafia)-- Im half joking and half serious

1. I agree refs should have to answer questions
2. The league is not rigged
3. If the league hates sweeps, then why would they have let 3 OF THE 4 conference semis be decided in 4 games?

The league does hate sweeps but that doesnt mean they cant happen, if a team is 6 or 7 points better than another team, on a given night, they are going to win, Stern is not a stupid man, he doesnt make it totally obvious. He even pretends to not advocate gambling by not moving a team to Vegas, other countries spend a ton of money gambling on games and of course so do we in the good old US of A. Also, I dont buy into the whole crowd noise effect angle either, these are supposed to be the best of of the best, the crowd should not affect them in any way. There was a "formally" respected NBA official who was convicted of gambling and has said time and time again games are skewed based on the desired winner, that and my own eyes are enough proof for me.

Having officiated basketball games, I can tell you its hard enough to do high school age kids. I can only imagine how difficult an NBA game would be.
The fact of the matter is, to think the refs go into games with "orders" that a certain team has to win is ridiculous. There's so much going on during the game to pay attention to. Sorry, its just not plausible.

The idea isnt a "team has to win" it would be to obvious. Skewing games is alot easier than than that, the refs can call a foul on almost every posession, banging goes on all the time, you just call more fouls, especially in the paint, for the team that you want to lose. Its a 5 or 6 point advantage( just an estimation). And if it is impossible to Skew games why was Tim Donaghy sentenced to federal prison for doing that very thing? Im not saying the NBA is rigged, Im saying that it isnt totally straight up

Of all 16 teams, why does it have to be a Celtics & Lakers finals again...

Of all 16 teams, why does it have to be a Celtics & L*kers finals again... So true. They are the only two teams in the entire league who I really didn't want to win.

I would go as far as to say that the league is as rigged as it can be without being completely obvious to everyone. I can't wait to get someone else in charge, because this is ALL on David Stern.
