aww poor blazers. Ur lucky brandon roy's knee is still intact. Why would he see any court time after all the bad luck that franchise had this year? If you have all those injuries and even your coach is tearing knee ligaments or an achilles(can't remember how he got hurt)Why would u even risk your best player 8 days after knee surgery? Must be trying to keep their jobs, but still that is ridiculous.

That is the kind of excuse that Red Sox fans would cling to. Roy played because he is healthy, and when you're healthy you should play.

If roy was healthy they probably win or take it 7. And maybe it's not bad luck maybe it's just drafting a bunch of injury prone players. You should hope its just bad luck because otherwise this team will be torn apart soon(too bad not soon enough for the fa class this summer). Had a No.1 overall pick with possibly nothing to show for it, and roy has to do everything in his power everytime he's on the court, to put that team on his back and go to the playoffs. How much longer are his legs going to last?
by the way...
FEAR THE DEER !

Healthy and 100% are two different things. I agree that he wasn't close to 100%, especially when you add in the lack of conditioning from 8 days off, and then trying to jump into a playoff series mid-round.
But I don't agree with all the people who think playing him was "risky" in any way. Or that "with all the Blazers bad luck, playing Roy was dumb." If it was an injury risk, he wouldn't have played - I'm certain of that. Its like playing roulette and not betting on black because black hasn't come up in a long time. Every spin is unrelated, and sometimes you got a string of red, but that doesn't affect the next spin in any way.
He got hurt, and he healed. There were a number of reasons not to play him (interfering with chemistry, he was out of shape, etc.) The fact that he could get hurt again wasn't one of them. If that was the case, they shouldn't have played any of the starters, what with our bad luck and all.

The recovery time was 1-2 weeks... he came back in 8 days.
No doctors said it would cause long term damage.

I agree he was healed, but not "healthy." He wasn't hurting anything internally (that is besides our defense)

agree to disagree.. i think it was a poor decision. Portland didn't beat the suns(didn't think they could w/out a healthy roy) and they weren't going to beat the lakers. He didn't play like brandon roy at all in the series. Maybe it wasn't risky for his knee, but there is no reason to risk it when he's at 75% of his basketball ability. He was hurting the only thing portland had going for them, their defense.

Maybe it wasn't risky for his knee, but there is no reason to risk it when he's at 75% of his basketball ability. My point is, if it wasn't risky for his knee, then they weren't risking anything by playing him. If it wasn't risky, then it wasn't a risk. Portland didn't beat the suns(didn't think they could w/out a healthy roy) and they weren't going to beat the L*kers. Well, I'm pretty sure the team believed they could and would beat the Suns during the series. And they thought their best chance was to have their only all-star in the lineup. I hope they didn't believe they were beaten until there was about two minutes left in the 4th Q of game 6. Next round would have been against the Mavs or Spurs, two teams they took the season series from. And they wouldn't have played the Lakers until the WCFs, so that is an irrelevant point. He was hurting the only thing portland had going for them, their defense. True. I mean, not the ONLY thing they had going for them, but yeah, he hurt the defense. I don't know if playing Roy made us a better team at all, in fact I don't think it did. I do not think in any way that the team was risking a thing (healthwise, long or short term) by playing him. If he was hurting the team from a basketball standpoint, and that is very possible, then Nate McMillian should have had the balls to sit Roy down and say wait until the next round. But of course, Nate is a terrible coach and would never do that.

How 'bout them Cavs, Miege . . .
This is what I meant about it being more fun to see LeBron lose than see him win, no matter how much I like the guy. I HATE the Celtics, and I hate Boston sports fans, and I hate that they are winning and can gloat, but still . . . LeBron laying a fat egg in a huge game was pretty damn funny. His postgame remarks were even funnier. I've spoiled the fans? Seriously? No, MJ spoiled the city of Chicago when he brought home a title every year. Duncan spoiled San Antonio by bringing ring after ring after ring after ring.
I'm willing to bet most Cleveland fans don't feel "spoiled".

He has never laid an egg like that in a pivotal game. I honestly feel like everything I thought about the game of basketball has been seriously compromised.

Every great player has bombed in a big game. Jordan did it, Kobe has done it, Shaq, Duncan, you name it. They've all had bad games on a big stage. LeBron as well. Its how he responds that will set him apart. If he brings his 'A'-game and goes off in game 6, that will be what people remember, not his bad games. Still, I can't say I didn't enjoy it! Its like he shouldn't ever lose, but he does. He loses every year. He's too good to lose, but he does . . . again . . . and again . . . and again. And to lose with Shaq and Jamison and Mo Williams on his side? He is running out of excuses. And he hasn't even lost this series yet, but everyone is acting like its a forgone conclusion!!! I wouldn't expect Cleveland fans to give up so easily . . .

Every year they'd been eliminated, LeBron had given his all, but the team simply wasn't good enough. Detroit, San Antonio, Boston... all three were better than the Cavs. Last year they just didn't have the personnel to match up with Orlando. This series.... its like he doesn't care. He's mailed in games 2, 4, and 5. The players you mentioned, yes, they've all had bad games, but nothing like this. Only Kobe's transgressions (game 7 in PHX) could be considered worse because he basically threw that game to prove a point. Probably the most egotistical thing one could do on the court. But this... I don't know how to explain it. LeBron's not that type of player, never has been. Is he arrogant off the court? Sure. There are more assholes than there are nice guys. But he's never willingly allowed his team to crash and burn the way he is in this series.
