Because I'm curious on the conversation it might bring I thought I'd share with everyone some of my very eclectic music tastes, music being a big influence in my life (I've been called music snob or human music encyclopedia) I'd like to see what the other 29 individuals might think of it out there. I update very often my Tumblr with new music as I find it. Here is my list of top albums of 2012 And here is my list of top albums of 2013 so far I want to see where this conversation might organically go, so I'll let whoever reads this to decide what they want to say, react, or ask me or others with it. Just thinking it could be fun..... Let the experiment begin

If you want to go back further... My top albums of 2011(Although I always have to slap myself in the face for totally forgetting "Cole World: The Sideline Story" on this list)

Yeah, Yeezus was the most impacting album to me so far this year on first listen (I was driving from Bend, OR to Eugene, OR listening to a bootleg bouncing up and down in my car ). But when it came down to it, J. Cole's album was so solid. I expect The Weeknd to be my top album when his drops though! I'm also thinking Haim, CHVRCHES, The Naked and Famous and JMSN's albums to be pretty strong offerings as well when (if, for a couple as they might end up being 2014 albums) make it in our ears.

It's interesting to see some albums and artists I've never heard of before and It makes me wanna go out and try out all of them. But yeah The Weeknd's album should be great. Any idea when it will be released?

September 10th I believe? Early September I know. Yeah, I have the "Proof" section for all of them so test them out! I know not all music is for everyone so I don't expect everyone to like all the music as much as I do (Any Country or Metal fans out there, because I am NOT one). But yeah feel free to ask me more about anything you see on here that sparks your interest. I love to talk music as Mighty and childplease can tell you I tell people I grew up listening to R&B, so it's my favorite genre and has that nostalgic feel to me. If you look on my iTunes the genre by-far I have the most of is hip-hop as it's what I mostly listened to in high school and I go everywhere in that genre from old school, gangsta, mainstream, underground, and experimental. But recently it's mostly been alternative/pop/electronic/house music I've listened to as that's where most of the best music is coming from these days (all though R&B has been making a comeback with this dark, experimental R&B over the last two years by Frank Ocean, The Weeknd, Cocaine 80s, How To Dress Well, JMSN, ect.)

I listen to mainly hip hop and R&B but I'm open to anything really but haven't found much else. Hopefully I find something here.

I got to go to Rock The Bells festival last summer, man that was a Hip-Hoper's wet dream!
Acts I saw: A$AP Rocky (ehhhhh), Atmosphere, Big Daddy Kane, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, Common, Eligh Grouch & Zion I, J Cole, Black Hippy (Kendirck Lamar, Ab-Soul, ScHoolboy Q & Jay Rock), Kid Cudi, Murs & Fashawn, Nas, Naughty By Nature, Supernatural
Acts I missed because of scheduling conflicts with acts I saw: Deltron 3030, DJ Quik, Hit Squad Reunion (EPMD, Keith Murray, Das EFX, K Solo), Ice Cube, Immortal Technique, Missy Elliott & Timbaland, Redman & Method Man, RZA, Slick Rick and others

TD definitely keeps me up to date on my music, for sure. He finds all the new stuff so I don't have to. Our tastes definitely vary a bit though.
That Daft Punk album is so overrated. Get Lucky is a good song, but beyond that I found the rest of the album hard to listen to and it will never make it into my regular rotation. Blah.
HAIM is a band I was stoked about in the Spring, but the more I listen to it, the more it feels like recycled 80's chick pop. Just kind of meh.
Charli XCX, who I actually saw perform during South by Southwest, is very similar to me. Pumped up club beat with looping 80's chick pop vocals. Doesn't do it for me.
However, I do love that J.Cole album. The Major Lazer album is fantastic. JT, Wild Belle, the Gatsby album, all fantastic.
And as for Yeezus . . . . blech. By the end I was skipping through tracks just to find something I could listen to. I don't think I'll give it another try. I want my old Kanye back.
For something not on TD's blog, I've been jamming to this for a few months now:
The Neighbourhood - I Love You (top tracks: Sweater Weather and Let It Go)

Yes, The Neighbourhood is sick! I got their album basically right after I wrote this list. I almost saw them and JMSN in Portland earlier this month, but was too broke and stayed in boring Bend that weekend Also yes, I can get a bit more excited on chick music then most other dudes My obsession in 2011 with Lana Del Rey and Purity Ring as evidence. I get what you're saying about Charli XCX and HAIM, but their grooves (being 80's influenced) are so catchy to me I don't care if it's kind of recycled Hall and Oats bass lines! I'm just a softy

My thing with the Yeezus album is I admire the risks Kanye took with it. The songs are not mainstream at all with "Black Skinhead" being the only song I can successfully see as a single (maybe Bound 2). But in that I still like the sounds. It gets a little bleh in the middle with "Hold My Liquor" and "Guilt Trip" but the first four tracks are sick, "Blood on the Leaves" straight FIRE and the last two songs are pretty dope that I don't really care when listening to the album as a whole.
That being said upon my first listen I knew it would not be a very popular album by Kanye and probably will have a very polarizing effect leaving people either hating it or loving it. He has still never quite hit that sweet spot that his first two albums hit which is what a lot of people miss from him.
Also that album that Kanye, Pharrell and Lupe Fiasco were supposed to make together (as Child Rebel Soldier) needs to happen!

This is a fantastic idea, and I have many thoughts I would like to add at some point... when things slow down.

I have a feeling my head might explode next month from all of the albums being released. Chvrches, Haim, Icona Pop, Avicii and The Weeknd all releasing their debut albums. Then there's also John Legend, Drake, MGMT, Kings of Leon, Justin Timberlake all in September.
