Yeah it's a great trade, however in the future I think it would be more clear to also include what teams are giving so we can better evaluate the fairness of the whole trade

You can pick him up yourself and drop Brown since you are in the other conference and he should be available there. And seattle should do so too.

Well, I want to go on "Record" and say while I respect the opinions of the moderators that denied our request to make this trade, I disagree with your reasoning's. I have tried to be objective on the other issues in the league and continue to keep quite about the tanking issue. I have NO idea why anyone would take on a fantasy team/league and not participate fully week in & week out. I am not going to tell anyone how to run their franchise but it does seem crazy not to put your best line-up in daily as it can be done in the same amount of time as it takes to make sure your players stay on your bench. I guess that must be a perk of playing in a "Free" league. Lastly, with all do respect, it doesn't look or seem right to decline a trade and in the same time frame send out a trade offer to try to acquire the same player(s). I know everyone has there own opinion on Kobe Bryant with his age, team, etc. but truth be known, he will continue to be an "Elite" player in the NBA for at least the lenght of the contract he has now. "KINGS" GM Let's keep the trade discussion in the thread for trade discussions. Look, there's a couple of reasons why I (I speak for myself) am cautious with trades like these. First of all, this is an owner that just joined the league and is pulling a huge trade right away. I don't know this owner, what his experience is, what his strategy is etc. So, I first need to see that in order to be more lenient in approving his trades. 2nd, I believe said new owner was refered to this league by you, and seeing you were his trade partner it warrants at least a slight bit of extra caution. Not that I'm accusing you of anything at all, but it's just something to be more safe about. 3rd, I personally think this trade is the direct opposite strategy of what a team like NY should do. A rebuilding team should acquire young talent and picks, not trade them away for a vet (though a star), that can't help the team to reach a good playoff spot in the timeframe he has. I know there are different strategies possible and it's hard to point out what is good and bad, but this being the exact opposite of what I think is viable, plus the aforementioned factors taken into account, let me to vetoing this trade. I hope you understand.

I really enjoy the league and wish you would reconsider. Also, I am not sure there is going to be enough votes to move to Indianapolis.
Thanks for your time!

I understand your first two points but don't fully understand the last point. Let me address your first two points.
My experience with fantasy sports dates back to 1984 when we had to calculate stats out of the Monday and Tuesday newspaper. Just so you know, I am still in that league today and every summer when we all meet in Vegas for the rookie draft is one of the highlights of my fantasy year each and every year. With that said, I have been commissioner of more leagues than I care to admit (including four now) and am involved in over 20 fantasy sports teams, including this one. My ex-wife once said that I was an addict of fantasy sports and should create a 12 step program for everyone like me. Guess that's why we are divorced.
I don't believe that an owner can have a strategy that he takes with him no matter what league he joins. A owner, especially when taking over a team like I am, has to adapt a strategy that fits what he/she have to work with. I have two players on my roster in this league that haven't played a minute in the NBA (one is signed overseas) but would have to take hits to drop them. If my roster wasn't in such shambles I would have never considered Kobe but with what I have an elite player like Kobe made sense. Let me also add. I would have traded for Kobe regardless of who the owner was/is. I had offers galore for Irving and I could make an argument for and against each offer that was made to me. In the end, I went back and forth for the deal that would have helped me with what my strategy was after reviewing the league and my roster. Get an elite player to build around.
Now, I will modify my strategy based on this denial based on the offers that come back for Irving. He is still for trade despite this hicup. Hopefully, this short story, will help the next trade my team posts be considered without the first two points coming into play.
Thanks.

I understand where you're coming from, having one of your trades denied is never fun (I know as I get that too). However, on the internet, I want to see before I believe, so I'm afraid though your history seems rich, I can't base my evaluation on it. Seeing you are willing to take the time to carefully explain your motivations does a big thing to seperate a good owner from a bad one, so the first steps are already taken.
And I didn't explain myself correctly, indeed an owner doesn't carry around a strategy, because each team and league needs a different one. What I meant is an owner's ability to formulate strategies and act according to them. I've seen enough owners that were eager to make trades to strengthen their team, but because of lack of strategy, a string of trades that contradicted strategy wise let to the downfall of their teams. I just want to be sure that a new owner making such a big trade right away isn't like those owners I just described.
I still don't really see the strength of the strategy you describe. If a team is in shambles, I'd say it needs to rebuild around young talents like Irving, while you say that if your team WASN'T in shambles (in other words, a good/decent team), you would not consider Kobe. I think a good team is perfectly suited for a great vet like Kobe to help put them over the top. A team in shambles can't use Kobe because fantasy wise he can't carry a team alone. A team in shambles needs to grow, and unfortunately Kobe doesn't grow anymore, and doesn't have enough years left to wait for the rest of your team to grow.
But, this is just my opinion on strategy for a team like yours, and I'm likely to stick with it (I'm kinda stubborn). Maybe you can rework your trade and convince 2 other mods to approve your trade.
