Ask and ye' shall receive.
Where is LeBron going?
I'm not someone who thinks that the Cavs winning or not winning the title this year has a very big impact on his decision either way. I believe him when he says he wants to win more than anything, but I also think he wants to be in a bigger city with even more exposure. Still I think it comes down to which team can give him the best supporting cast and coaching staff.
If New York can bring in Chris Bosh and Joe Johnson, LeBron is gonna go there.
If LeBron thinks that Derrick Rose and Joakim Noah is the best supporting cast out there (or if they add Wade), LeBron is gonna go to Chicago.
If the Nets end up with Calipari, John Wall, and Amare Stoudemire, then LeBron is gonna go there.
I guess with all things being equal I'd put LeBron's destinations in the following order:
1. New York
2. New Jersey
3. Chicago
4. Cleveland
5. Miami
6. Clippers
If each of those teams had EQUAL supporting casts / coaching staffs then NY would win out, with New Jersey (Brooklyn) coming in a close 2nd. But if Miami or the Clippers put the BEST product on the court, that would trump all else and LeBron would go there. The only way Cleveland keeps LeBron is if THEY put together the best supporting cast (and I don't think Mo Williams, Antwan Jamison, and JJ Hickson is gonna cut it). They should have made the Amare trade.
If I'm a betting man, my money is on the Nets if they win the lottery. If they land Wall, add a big name big man (Bosh or Amare or Boozer) and trade Devin Harris for a solid championship piece (can we trick them into thinking that Rudy Fernandez is a good championship piece?), and hire a coach LeBron likes (my money is on Calipari, ugh), then they will win the LeLottery. But it all rides on winning the draft lottery.
Other summer 2010 hunches:
- I don't think Joe Johnson will get a max contract.
- I hope Chris Bosh goes to Houstion, its just too good of a fit. Brooks/Martin/Ariza/Bosh/Yao with Battier, Lowry, and Scola on the bench? #1 seed in the West right there.
- Someone is gonna get the "Baron Davis" treatment and sign somewhere only to have the "other" guy change his mind and go somewhere else. I'm thinking Bosh to New York and LeBron changing his mind and going to Chicago or New Jersey or something. That may be wrong, but it is gonna happen to SOMEONE.
- Rudy Gay will be overpaid.
