DEVELOPMENTAL LEAGUE (D-LEAGUE) SPOTS:
Starting 2019 The Rosters will now have two spots devoted to Developmental League Players We will shorten to the D-League. I know, I know in real life the D-League has been changed to the G-League, but we aren't corporate shills around these parts. That is unless Gatorade shows up with a bag of money to sponsor this league and reward our hard work handsomely. Until that happens we will use the term D-League to emphasize development. These roster spots will be focused on acquiring talent that may need more time to become a contributing member to your team, but you wish to hold on to for that potential.
GENERAL RULES:
- You have two available G-League Spots
- There are two ways to sign someone to a D-League spot. Draft someone, or sign someone as a Free Agent.
- The monetary amount of the contract (more on that below) counts towards your team salary but players in these two spots don’t count towards your 10 +2 IR Roster spots.
- You can activate anyone on a D-League spot to your active roster during the season at any time but once you do that they lose their D-League designation and count as a Roster spot.
If you have 12 players already you and wish to activate a D-League player you MUST waive someone to be able to do so.
- There is a special 10-Game call up designation if your team qualifies. The rules are the same for regular 10-Day contracts, but the player goes back to the D-League after the 10 games. This can happen once per D-League player owned per year.
- D-League players can be traded, the trade proposal must designate if the new owner will keep the player as a D-League spot or part of the active roster. As always you must have the roster space or D-League space available to do so, or waive someone if needed.
- A “d” will be placed after the year on the Roster to designate D-League Roster. Once the player is put on the active roster the “d” is removed.
Examples:
$400,000 2020d
$500,000 2020d (2021x, 2022x)
PLAYER CRITERIA:
This criteria counts for any player signed as a Free Agent, or any player coming off contract with their rights owned that qualifies with either of these two conditions:
Has played less then 60 games in their career at no more then a 15 minutes a game average
OR
Has played less then 20 games in their career at no more then 25 minutes a game average
DRAFT PICKS:
- Any player drafted is eligible to be on a D-League roster spot for their whole rookie contract not matter how much they play so long they aren't activated during the season.
- You designate at the beginning of the year (when we do option pick ups) if a player is D-League or active roster or option declined (if applicable). Once a player is made active roster they are no longer eligible for D-League assignment for all future seasons on this contract (unless using the 10-Day contract clause above).
- When the rookie contract ends the owner has resign rights for the player, if the player at that time still meets the games played and minutes criteria listed above for a Free agent to be D-League spot the owner can choose to sign them to a one year D-League deal for the next year at the price also listed under Free Agency below. This MUST happen during the early period when owners make Qualifying offers. Once that period ends the player is put in the Free Agent pool with their resign rights owned. Future one-season D-League offers can be made at QO ONLY if the player is still eligible.
- If the player was activated at some point during its rookie contract to the active roster, losing it's D-League designation, but is still eligible at the end of their contract with the criteria listed, the owner can choose to make a D-League bid DURING FREE AGENCY if they wish. They cannot make the offer during the QO period making the player susceptible to being bid on by someone else.
FREE AGENCY:
- A Free Agent player is eligible to be signed to a D-League roster spot from Free Agency if they fall in one of two categories listed above.
- A D-League contract is $400k for 1 year at 0.4 Points. You designate when making the bid at Free Agency that this is a D-League bid and the points value. Once someone else beats the bid the player is now an active Free Agent bid and no longer eligible for a D-League spot. Whoever wins, the player counts towards their Roster spaces.
- D-League Free Agency contracts are for one year only and once the year ends and the player is still on a roster, the owner has Resign Rights for that player in the next Free Agency.
- If the player still meets the games and minutes eligibility the owner can extend another year D-League offer during QO's to keep the player out of Free Agency, but this MUST happen during that time period.
