As is our annual custom I have realigned all the divisions for our next season. The decision to do this was based on the following:
1. Because ESPN forces us into two separate 15-team leagues, you don't ever get an out of conference match-up unless you're lucky enough to reach the finals. Realignment lets you play a wider variety of the teams in the league over time.
2. No one has to worry when teams decide to relocate, the divisions are no longer related to geography anyway.
3. It helps maintain competitive balance between the divisions and conferences.
4. Its fantasy basketball and mixing things up is fun.
We've implemented a FIFA-style realignment based on the previous year's standings. Here are the steps I took to come up with the new divisions:
1. Ordered all the teams in the league from best to worst record, regardless of division or conference.
2. Divided that list of teams in to 5-team tiers (top 6 records, next 6 best records, etc.)
3. Then using a random order generator online I picked 1 team from each of the of the 5 tiers and placed them in a division.
For this season grab your Dragon Stone or Valyrian Steel swards, make sure your dire wolves are well fed and grab something worm to wear because the winter is coming!
Without further ado, here are the new divisions:
