The Playoffs are here! Feel Free to chat here about the season in hindsight (402 3's at 45% I feel is not being talked about as much. That is the most amazing record broken this year to me), the playoffs in the present (who ya'll got?!) and the NBA of the future (Minnesota going to have an OKC type ascension soon?)!
I will start it off by stupidly posting my playoff match up predictions for you all to see and make fun of me for!
ROUND 1:
WEST:
#1 Golden State Warriors Win 4-0
#8 Houston Rockets
The slow motion train wreck that have been the Rockets will be no match for the First Order and their Star Destroyer.
#4 Los Angeles Clippers
#5 Portland Trail Blazers Win 4-3 [HOMER PICK]
NO GOOD CLIPPERS! Such a Homer pick I know but with Blake playing injured I'm hoping for some clunky moments from the Clippers. I see this serious as Lillard sort of exercising his demons against Paul and having a series for the ages.
#3 Oklahoma City Thunder Win 4-1
#6 Dallas Mavericks
Mavericks sneak one out in Dallas, other then that it's a pretty easy series for OKC.
#2 San Antonio Spurs Win 4-0
#7 Memphis Grizzlies
Will Spurs win a game by less then 10?
EAST:
#1 Cleveland Cavaliers Win 4-1
#8 Detroit Pistons
Pistons make this series look closer then the 4-1 ending may seem.
#4 Atlanta Hawks
#5 Boston Celtics Win 4-2
A pretty even series, but I see this as Atlanta's last trip to the post season for at least a couple season.
#3 Miami Heat
#6 Charlotte Hornets Win 4-2
I went back and forth on this series even thinking Bosh might not play. But with uncertainty of Bosh, I see Charlotte sneaking this win out on the backs of Walker and Batum; with a game or two of Linsanity.
#2 Toronto Raptors win 4-1
#7 Indiana Pacers
I was temped to not give Indy that one win, but went with the Gentleman's sweep out of respect for Paul George.
ROUND 2:
WEST:
#1 Golden State Warriors Win 4-2
#5 Portland Trail Blazers
My homer picks can't go this far. But I still gave us two wins, which common sense says a Gentlemen's sweep or full on sweep is more likely. But Dame can make some magic happen against Curry.
#3 Oklahoma City Thunder
#2 San Antonio Spurs Win 4-3
This should be a good one, but I had to go with Pop coaching circles around Donovan.
EAST:
#1 Cleveland Cavaliers Win 4-3
#5 Boston Celtics
Boston will fight hard and push Cavaliers more then they expected, but I still have LeBron pulling it out.
#6 Charlotte Bobcats
#2 Toronto Raptors Win 4-1
Congrats to Charlotte winning their franchises first playoff series, but Then they run into a buzzsaw.
ROUND 3:
WEST:
#1 Golden State Warriors Win 4-3
#2 San Antonio Spurs
The Goliath's meet and this can really go either way. But I went with Curry just being his amazing self against the barely hanging on Parker as the difference.
EAST:
#1 Cleveland Cavaliers
#2 Toronto Raptors Win 4-2
Toronto has sneakily been the best team in the East the majority of the season, I see the turmoil of the Cavs finally catching up with them a little here and Toronto going to their first championship.
CHAMPIONSHIP:
Golden State Warriors Win 4-1
Toronto Raptors
Remember that thing about Charlotte hitting running into that buzzsaw? Yeah I don't see the Warriors letting up in this. I could easily see Toronto winning a second and I think all the games will be close. But the Warriors will just continue taking care of business as they have all season long.
