Oliver,
I want to say I hope you and your family were safe during yesterday. I wish you, your loved ones and your country the best on the road to recovery.
Thoughts and Prayers go out to France

I don't know who Oliver is, but same. It's getting really hard to believe that people are inherently good.
Though it does reinforce my opinion that religion is both bad and stupid. Why can't people just live and let live? And that goes for everyone, not just these ISIS shitheads. Worry about your own damn business, and let others do the same. Act in the BEST interests of others. Life is pretty simply, when you think about it. A shame that people choose to believe in stupid shit...

Religion is the root of all evil. Always has been and always will be.
I think it's cool if people have beliefs that they're passionate about, but religion (and disagreement among religions) is the common denominator for war, oppression, and civil unrest for centuries.

And that shit goes back centuries. Remember learning about the Crusades? Doesn't matter the religion. And the stupidest part about it is everyone is squabbling over very minor differences. Everyone believes essentially the same thing. They're just arguing about bullshit. And killing people. Damn shame.

Religion is the root of all evil. Always has been and always will be. I think it's cool if people have beliefs that they're passionate about, but religion (and disagreement among religions) is the common denominator for war, oppression, and civil unrest for centuries. I actually don't think religion is the root, it's just being abused as an excuse for alterior motives. It's funny how often the cause follows (is made up after) the action instead of the other way around, and this is no different. They want to attack the western countries, and they say it's in the name of Allah to justify it and get others to join their cause. I'm not religious myself, but I know there's no religion that moves you to kill others in it's name. I think religion is a fine guideline on how to live with eachother properly, but parts of it are pulled out of context and used as excuse to support other views (like war, homophobia etc). I think the root lies within people themselves, we are vulnerable to become power hungry when put in a situation that brings it within reach. See the Stanford Prison Experiment; anything can be used to justify the power abuse. In most countries we've learned to contain that thirst for power in the violent sense by use of law, but other countries haven't. Western countries want to help the oppressed people, the ones in power don't want their power to be gone so they fight those that threaten their loss of power. Religion has nothing to do with it, but it's used as excuse.
