The wife and I are taking an 8 day trip to Portland (1 day), Seattle (3), Vancouver (2), and Victoria (2). I know we have some guys that either live up there or know the area. Any must do things (outside of the obvious stuff) at any of those places? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

One day in Portland, huh? That is a tough one! Are you guys outdoorsy folks? Or sightseeing city people?

Pioneer Courthouse Square is always a cool thing to see for the first time (my office over looks it) and is probably Portland's most iconic space. The Shanghi tunnels tour in Old Town is interesting. If you like beer, there's bike brewery tours since you can't throw a stick anywhere in Portland and not hit 5 brewery's, but the bike tours are really fun and get you to a few. Also do some research and check what day you will be there, there might be something like a music festival, beer festival or whatever going on at the Waterfront.

Powell's books is a massive landmark book store, fun to walk around in. Washington Park is fun (International Rose Garden, Japanese Garden, the Zoo, lots of walking/hiking trails). Waterfront park and the Eastbank Esplanade form a great walking loop along the riverfront. On the hipster side of town North Mississppi Ave, Alberta Street, and Hawthorne Ave are all fun shopping/eating/drinking neighborhoods with fun and funky "Portlandia" type places.
If you're in town during a Portland Timbers game try and get tickets. It is definitely one of the most unique live sports events you'll find in the US and the stadium is right in the heart of downtown (easily accessible and lots to do nearby post-game).

In Seattle you've got to check out Pike Place Market and walk along the piers one day. The Seattle Art Museum is very cool as well. And if you're a music fan the Experience Music Project is an amazing place to spend an afternoon. Also I highly recommend Gas Works Park.
I also don't know how you're planning on travelling between the cities, but the ferry between Seattle and Victoria is very fun and easy. And I know people that rave about taking float planes, although I personally never have.

Thanks guys, these have been helpful! Unfortunately, Portland is at Seattle (would be awesome to go to), but at an inconvenient time for us. We're taking the ferry from Vancouver to Victoria. Most of those things we've already made a note to see, but thanks for the ideas!

Also in Seattle, if you like art and cool architecture the sculpture Garden is really amazing. The art sculptures are decent, but I really nerd out about the architecture and landscape design of the whole place melding what was just an industrial area with train tracks intersecting it into a really cool tiered garden. It's also right next to the Space Needle and Experience Music Project so it can be easily included in a day going to those things.
