As a Celtics fan I'm curious to see what other people think of the Rondo trade, and whether it was a good deal for both teams or not. I think Dallas is a dark horse contender this year, but who knows in the crazy west.

Loved the deal for Dallas. Might mess up their spacing for a little bit, but Carlisle will figure things out for them on that end. I thought Boston could have gotten more, but I guess I just always remember playoff Rondo. Playoff Rondo is a top-15 player.

For the reputation that Rondo has, I think Boston should've got more for him. Although if that was the best package they could find for him then the trade makes sense for Boston. I've always felt that Rondo was overrated so I was skeptical it would work, but judging by the 6-2 start it seems like it will work out. I think it will end up being a good trade for the Mavs but I don't think it made them that much better. They will miss Brandan Wright, and I would bet they lose in the first round.

I could see Dallas getting to the second round with him now, but it really hinges on who they play against. Dallas definitely got the better end of that deal. It's amazing to see Wright once labeled as a bust now the centerpiece in acquiring an all-star support player. With how well he's played as well as the recent play by Cole Aldrich, it really makes me wonder how many other project big men we've given up on who'll reemerge in the NBA. (Kosta Koufos is one I keep my eye on frequently)

Yeah Dallas definitely got the best player in the deal but I think it was a good deal on both sides. Rondo was basically a 6 month rental to whoever got him, with no guarantee of re-signing. It seemed like Danny Ainge talked to several teams and this was the best deal he got. I think Brandan Wright has some real value and there's a good chance he gets traded for an asset before the deadline. The time to trade Rondo was this past off season when they had some better offers, but then the Celtics were still trying to get a superstar like Love to pair with Rondo. All in all I think it will work out well for both teams, especially of Rondo re-signs with the Mavs like he has said he's interested in. I agree with Miege's point to that by the time playoffs roll around Carlisle will have that offense figured out and how to maximize Rondo's ability. They are definitely going to be a tough out come April and May.

I think it's a great move for Dallas and not bad for Boston. I don't think Carlisle will have too hard a time figuring out the offense because Rondo is not unlike Jason Kidd when they won the championship. As said, spacing might be a problem because that was the 1 thing Kidd could do offensively, plus they had Terry and Stoja spacing the floor. They do have great drivers now, but maybe Ellis and Parsons will be focussing more on 3's now.
I think a deal like this is the most Boston could realistically expect at this point, as Rondo hasn't been motived to play very well.
