You might be the first person in the history of the world to say this. Scott Brooks, by all accounts, is a terrible coach. He's a great leader, great man, players love him, but he cannot coach X's and O's. Presti is an incredible scout (let's not act luck didn't play a little part in that)., but trading Harden away is one of the unforgivable moves of the last 3 years, and, as their title window is as open as it'll ever be, he refuses to pay the luxury tax and their only move this offseason was signing Anthony Morrow. Anthony Morrow. Ya know, the guy who has never played in a playoff game. Just baffling. Very Bill Simmons of you, but I too agreed with him. Sent from The Office of the Phoenix Suns General Manager Dangit! I was hoping nobody would catch on! Lol i am a huge Simmons fan, and i agree with him 100%. Just wish he would use his own thoughts and not just take all of mine. In all seriousness, it doesn't take half a brain to realize that they are wasting their opportunity. I still cant get over Anthony Morrow. I'd be pissed if I was KD.

In defense of Presti, I'm pretty sure ownership has mandated no luxury tax, so there's not much he can do there. He's an incredible scout, and drafter. That Steven Adams pick is looking better and better every day. I guarantee you he did not want to trade Harden, but was forced to because resigning him would not keep them under the luxury tax. My problem with that trade was how he handled it. Could have gotten a lot better than Kevin Martin for a year and some mediocre first rounders.
I would have loved to see the Thunder go after Afflalo this offseason as he was available and I think he would work great with this team. But I still think they have a legit shot at the finals, especially if this is finally the year the spurs get old or get hurt.

I understand that mindset (re: the Harden trade), but they have a serious shot of winning that title with the "big 4". Let the season play out. I think they could have gotten under the tax and been able to resign him (amnesty perkins for a start)- it would have been tricky but doable. Then to get $.25 on the $1 for him at the beginning of the season was ludicrous. Pile on the fact they were 30M in the black last year so this whining and bitching about being in a small market doesn't work. I agree the owners handcuffed presti, but he could have handled it way better.

Well, I was thinking after a couple months LA would realize they aren't making the playoffs and will lose their pick if it's not top 5 to Phoenix and go into tank mode. Maybe trading Lin and Boozer for some assets and playing my man Randle a ton, giving him a late push for ROY. I guess that wont be happening now....
My guess is it will be between Payton, Parker or Noel with K.J. Daniels as a sleeper pick

Also f he can get consistently around 18-21 points a game, Kenneth Faried is a dark horse MIP candidate

I know I'm a homer, but Michael Kidd-Gilchrist has FINALLY fixed his jumpshot and I think I could see him averaging 15,7, and a steal and block this year. There was a reason he was drafted 2nd overall for a reason...
He tore it up last night with Kemba and he looked real good in the preseason.
Tough break with Randle (no pun intended).

Yeah I saw a breakdown of his shooting form from last season to this preseason. If it's true he is a good candidate as well for MIP

But back onto Bill Simmons. Grantland is my jam while at work, I habitually listen to basically all of the Grantland Podcasts weekly (I really only skip a few: The Moment, unless the guest sounds interesting to me because the host is so dry and boring to me, The Jonah Keri because..... baseball, ewww, and Cheap Heat because I never was into Pro Wrestling when it was cool, so I'm definitely not into it now).
