hub holland hub now it's on us to follow you guys Hehe yeah I'll be cheering for you as well, so we can meet in the finals What a great match, still can't believe we knocked out Brasil. We could have won something like 5-1 I can't believe all the opportunities we got at the end but didn't score out of it. 3 vs 1 in the penalty area and can't even get a shot off....

Me certainly too! Though I feel for Munich, and I looked forward on getting revange (1974 finals) on our rivals in the east. Now it will be beating Spain and celebrating it in Spain on vacation the week after.

I hope you beat them and don't play that crappy like we did ... I'll go and cry for a while and then pray for Oranje.

Yeah man I couldn't follow the match closely because I was at work, but it seemed you didn't play as well as in other matches, because I was sure you guys had the best chance to win the cup (more than we did).

got to say that was a pretty boring final, i kept falling asleep (didn't help that it started at 4.30am here) i expected more and feel that that the 3rd place match was a better game

Yeah the 3rd place was a much more exciting game, but in the final much more is at stake so less risk is taken so more boredom to watch. I'm really dissappointed in our dutch team, especially the fact that our star Robben failed to score in 1 on 1 situations with the keeper twice. Furthermore the ref was a total ass, the red card for Heitinga was total BS and the pass before the assists to the goal from Spain was offside, which wasn't called like the rest of the tournament.
I'm not saying the Netherlands deserved to win, because they should have seized their own opportunities which they didn't, but just a bad game and bad refs throughout the tournament. When will the Fifa finally start to use instant replays?

When will the Fifa finally start to use instant replays? The Netherlands has no room to complain about the refs in that game. It was dirty, choppy, and most of it originated from the Dutch side. You can complain about Heitinga's 2nd yellow in extra time, but de Jong should have been sent off in the 1st half for that karate kick to the chest. The Dutch should have been playing a man down for And Heitinga's 2nd yellow is pretty much standard issue when you pull a guy down from behind on a scoring chance at the end of the game. It wasn't a particularly vicious or strong challenge, but it did stop a great scoring chance when Iniesta had gotten in behind the defense and that is just sloppy soccer. With some better finishing on both sides of the ball, that could have easily been a 3-2 game, congrats to Spain.

While I agree many cards we got were deserved, I thought we played much dirtier than we usually do, but the calls weren't neutral. When Spanish players asked for a card, they the ref gave it to a dutch player. When a dutch player asked for a card, he got one himself. Also, Heitinga barely even touched the guy, at least a lot less than Robben was pulled back and there wasn't a call at all.

Also, Heitinga barely even touched the guy, at least a lot less than Robben was pulled back and there wasn't a call at all. I know you're a Dutch fan and that clouds your thinking here (I'm the same way when the Oregon Ducks lose), but you're in denial if you think the reason the Dutch got carded was because the Spanish players asked the ref. And I agree that Heitinga committed a pretty weak foul, but ANY foul at all that brings a player down from behind when the only thing between the goal and the player is the ball is going to warrant a card. The card was less for the foul and more for the position of the two players, the ball, the goal, and the time left on the clock. You just can't touch a guy in that position and he did. Besides, de Jong should have been sent off in the first half so you should consider yourself lucky that you only played a man down for 15 minutes instead of 85. And yes, the Netherlands was robbed of a corner in the final minutes, but just minutes before that the Spanish were also robbed of a corner. It evens out. IMO, the Netherlands were lucky to even make it to overtime and if you want to blame the loss on anything you need to blame it on poor finishing in front of the goal.
