It would be nice to have a chatroll on this league? im not sure if this has been discussed or not, just something that I think the moderators and league manager should consider. I think it would make alot of things move quicker when it comes to trades and conversation in general.

We've discussed it and I do not believe we will be utilizing any chat boxes at this time or in the future. The thing with chat boxes in a league of this size is that 1.) when owners are logged on, they are talking on a chat box (chat room is more like it) and it is just a clusterfuck of comments and 2.) discussing trades and that sort of thing should be done in private, over PMs. Hypothetically, let's say I am talking about moving LeBron to team A that is offering me Durant and Amare. Team B sees that and wants to offer me Paul, Dirk and Howard. Obviously, that is over-exaggerated, but the point I am getting at is that it causes annoying bidding wars that often times disinterest owners. Not to sound like I'm ripping your idea, I just wanted you to know where I am coming from with this.

I appreciate your input and I understand where your coming from but not all owners would like to use the PM to discuss trades. There is a chatbox that I use in a different league (xat i believe its called) that offers private messages if owners decide if they would like to speak in private. I think a chatbox or chatroom whatever would also be nice so that all owners have a better chance to communicate with each other. I personally find communicating on a chatbox better than sending a bunch of PMs and having a crazy amount of stuff in your inbox. Also I dont think all owners would be on at the same time, I can see about 8-12 owners on at most on the chatbox at the same time. No clusterfuck of comments lol ;D

I can find myself in both sides of this discussion. We had this discussion before and the Mods explained they didn't like chatboxes, and so we wouldn't use them.
Let me first defend the mods' decision to not get one. Besides the trade talk which should be private (private chtats can indeed be used, but I see it happen that it doesn't get used and people talk trades in public anyway), it takes away the fun stuff we say and discussions we have from people that aren't online at the time the discussion/talk is taking place. If we only use the forum, everyone can keep up to date with everything that is going on.
On the other side, a kind of chat would greatly simplify communications, because if we want to work something out now, we have to write PM's and have to wait for a response, while you don't know when you'll get one. It takes a lot of time which can be annoying, certainly when you're trying to move a pick that's OTC. (on the clock).
What we could do is to make a chat on a seperate website, like just make one for us, but don't post it here on this website but on the host website (like you can also acces your own chat on the chatroll website). This way if you really want to talk to someone, you can just go to that website, and others here won't be bothered. That gives a means to improve communication while keeping the main talks here and trades private, we could just put the link to the host website on the forum so it's easy accessable.
What do you think?

That might be a good idea Amsterdam, we will look into. I think the reason why us mods think it isn't a big deal to use PMs is because normally it isn't. This draft is a special case that should only happen once in the lifetime of this league. Every other trade talks wont have a deadline like they do now. Yes, there will be a rookie draft every summer, so that will basically be one month of working trades on a clock. The rest of the time trades like this wont have such a time crunch on them and PMs from my experience has worked just fine. But thank you for the input and we will continue to look into the matter.

That's a valid point, but maybe more of a reason for a temporary chat on another website. Thanks for taking my idea into account.

To the argument that it would be more fun; there would be a great chance that you'll miss gary's greatest quotes because they'll be on the chat and it wouldn't be saved for you to read when you get on... If we use the forum, you'll always be able to get a laugh!

Im personally in favor of a C-Box, "chat boxes suck" is a common belief of the, so called board regs I play with in baseball, it has never made much sense to me. Getting to know the league members is the reason why one would use a c-box, not for trades( at least most of the time). In my years of playing fantasy sports the owners who have become "internet friends" have become so because of c-box's. When I first got on here I posted alot but I just havent felt like posting a 100 page essay every post and a one line comment seems pointless, so I have just kept quiet, if a C-box was available I would talk more about sports in general and that is IMO one of the best things about fantasy. And by the way, if you use Chatango you can scroll for days, so you can see what everyone has said if that is what people are worried about, I dont feel like I know the people in this league all that well,I know it just started, but in part it is because we dont have a c-box. P.S. You can still use pms when you dont want other people to see what you are talking about and Chatango allows pms even when you are on the ESPN site, plus with Chatangoo you can see the IP address of every post if you are the LM, so if spamming occurs you can just ban that IP.
