ROOKIE DRAFT
Just like in the real NBA there will be a rookie draft every summer. The draft will be held after Re-signs and before Free Agency. The exact date will be clarified by the commissioner. There will be 2 rounds both 30 picks each.
DRAFT RULES
- When the draft begins each team will be given 24 hours to make their pick in the first round, and 12 hours in the second round
- Once a team makes their pick the 24 hour (or 12 hour) clock starts again for the team next on the list
- When it is your turn to make a selection you must clearly state your pick number, team name, player selection and team next up. It should look like this:
- If a team's time window runs out the team next up is able to select ahead of them. The team skipped will be allowed to pick whenever they are able to next
- If a team is skipped, the following picks are still made in their original slots, meaning the pay scale doesn't change. For example if you hold the 5th pick and get skipped, the team who selects 6th still pays the salary for the 6th overall pick and when you do finally make your pick, you still pay the salary of the 5th pick . . . regardless of how many teams have picked ahead of you.

SECOND ROUND
All second round pick contracts will be set at $500,000 and at 3 years length, all three years are team options. Meaning the contracts are not guaranteed.
OTHER NOTES
-If you think you will be not able to make your pick when it is your time to select, we ask you send a priority list to the Commissioner or one of the Moderators to let them make the selection for you in order to keep things moving smoothly (and so your team isn't skipped).
-Remember, first round selections contracts are guaranteed for three years at least, second round selections contracts are not guaranteed.
-Before the first game of the season please state if you will keep your second round selected players or they will be placed into the Free Agency Pool. By drafting them you are owning the rights to them, those rights can be used, denied or traded, but those right go away once the season starts if no action is done.
-First round picks on their fourth contract year and second round picks on their second contract year with the team must also have their options picked up by the beginning of the season or they will enter the free agency pool when the season starts. These players can be traded around until then. If you did not pick up the option of a second rounder in their first year, you do not have an option on them in their second year or third year. Same goes for a player is you do not pick up their second year option with their third year.
-If you are at or over the roster limit once the draft begins, you can still make your selections and own the rights to the players, but know you must make any necessary trades and/or waivers before the season starts to get down to the maximum of 10 active players and 2 inactive players on your roster.
Rookie contracts should look like this on your roster page:
1st Round:
2nd Round:
DRAFT ORDER
The draft order will follow the same basic set up as the real NBA. All playoff teams will pick in reverse order of their regular season record (best record gets 30th, second best gets 29th, and so on). All the non-playoff teams will be entered into a draft lottery as described below.
DRAFT LOTTERY
After every season there will be a Draft Lottery to determine the order of the first few picks. We will use the real life NBA lottery as our own to determine the order. Each team's regular season wins-loss record over the PAST THREE SEASONS will combined to determine their place in the lottery. The team with the most losses over that time will be coupled with the NBA team with the greatest odds in the real life Draft Lottery. The second most losses paired with the second highest odds, and so on.
Tie-Breakers
1st Tie-Breaker - Record from the most recent two seasons
2nd Tie-Breaker - Record from the most recent season
3rd Tie-Breaker - Coin-flip by the commissioner
To clarify...
All playoff teams are sorted by their record from the most recent season.
All non-playoff teams are placed in the draft lottery according to their combined record from the past three seasons.
